Hotel Review: The Chedi Al Bait, Sharjah

Located in the heart of Sharjah, this unique hotel offers luxury and history combined - It’s a must visit for UAE residents.

Courtyard, The Chedi Al Bait

On arrival

We drove to the hotel which took around 40-minutes from Dubai Marina. The hotel was signposted well and easy to find. Pulling into the entrance we were greeted by a member of staff who parked our car for us which was a lovely touch and then his colleague announced ‘Hello and welcome home’, the great hospitality started from here.

We were escorted through the small lanes of the property to the hotel reception and at this point, we knew this was going to be a hotel like no other we had stayed at before. The grounds were stunning and gave us the feeling of traditional culture, it was picturesque and peaceful.

The Cafe

We were seated in the reception area and asked to fill in some details and give our IDs/passports. In the winter months, there's also an outdoor courtyard at the reception where guests are seated to be checked in, but as it was June we opted for the AC! The outdoor courtyard was beautiful though - with sunken cushioned seating and a calming water feature. A welcome drink arrived for us, and all I’m going to say is, “wow” - we won’t ruin this experience for you by spoiling the surprise, we’ll let you enjoy this part for yourself. Overall the check-in process was a wonderful start to our stay!

After Check-in

We were greeted by a lovely gentleman named Ravi, he told us that our bags would be sent to our room and that he would like to give us a tour of the hotel grounds and the museum (yes, there’s a museum!). We would highly recommend this short tour, the property is set on one level and connected by narrow lanes that look very similar to each other. Ravi gave us some tips and tricks on how to easily find our way around so this wasn't a problem. You can of course ask to be taken straight to your room if you like or have the tour at another time during your stay.

Swimming pool

Ravi showed us the hotel's features and facilities and explained the history of the buildings. It was so interesting and made us feel a lot more connected to the hotel and our surroundings. The museum is located on the grounds of the property and explains the history in more detail, including the background of the buildings and the family they originally belonged to - it's an absolute must-see! Ravi was great, he knew everything there was to know and was very funny also - this was a really lovely added touch and another great start to our experience.

Rooms

We stayed in The Chedi Deluxe Patio room - it was gorgeous! It was a large room with a seating area, outdoor patio and large four-poster bed. Every detail is thought about in this hotel - from the decor and lighting to the amenities in the room. We also loved the fact that the hotel is eco-friendly. No plastic is used throughout the hotel, your water in the room is serviced in glass bottles and you have both still and sparkling to choose from.

Bedroom, The Chedi Grand Patio Room

Bathroom, The Chedi Grand Patio Room

Ravi had mentioned to us how comfortable the beds were - which generally they are in hotels - but he was especially right about this bed. We had the best night's sleep we think we’ve ever had! Your body almost melts into the mattress and the sheets are so incredibly soft on your skin. The room was so comfortable, we had everything we needed, and we loved it.

Restaurants

The hotel has several high-end dining options that cater to every taste - you can have Arabic cuisine in Al Bareed or go for more international options in The Restaurant. The Cafe is the perfect place to relax, people watch and enjoy an Arabic or Turkish coffee, while the hotel’s Ice Cream Shop is perfect for a mid-afternoon sweet treat.

Outside area, The Restaurant

Inside seating area, The Restaurant

Breakfast is served between 7-11 AM in The Restaurant. There was so much choice, from English, Arabic, and American breakfast options and plenty of healthy choices too. We were served delicious fruit juices along with fresh pastries which tasted as if they came straight from a patisserie in Paris.

Overall Experience

The overall experience we had at The Chedi Al Bait was 10/10. The service was fantastic and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. They made us feel very welcome. The hotel is authentic and full of natural beauty, which is a nice change from other hotels we have in the UAE. You'll find lots of frangipanis and beautiful orange lighting in the evenings that give a warm and cosy ambience. The property is unique with its elegant and luxurious touches. The history that comes with the buildings makes you feel connected to your surroundings which is a unique experience. We would highly recommend The Chedi Al Bait for a staycation because you’ll experience a stay like no other. It’s a very special hotel, indeed.
